The department of Medicine, LHMC & associated hospitals successfully organized its annual Medicine Update on 15th-16th April 2023. Inauguration lamp lightning was done by Shri Rajesh Bhushan (Secretary, MOH, GOI), Shri S Gopalkrishnan, (Special Secretary, MOH, GOI), Dr Atul Goyal (Director Professor & DGHS, MoHFW, GOI), Dr Subhash Giri (Director LHMC), Dr S K Rasania (Vice Principal, LHMC), Dr L H Ghotekar (Director Professor & HOD Medicine, LHMC). More than 185 participants from medical colleges in and around Delhi participated in the event. The event consisted of Panel discussion, medical paper presentation, clinical case discussion, quiz for post graduate students & workshop on PFT & 2D echocardiography. Resident from LHMC (Dr Vamsi) won the first prize in paper presentation.
Medicine department organized public awareness programs on World Health Day (8th April), World Liver Day (19th April), World Malaria Day (25th April), World Asthma Day (2ND May), World Thalassemia Day (9th May) respectively in Medicine OPD. The faculty and residents delivered informative talks on respective topics. The patients and attendants participated actively.
On 6th May 2023, a CME on “Emerging therapies in thalassemia management” was organized under the guidance of HOD medicine. Resident doctors of the department were informed about thalassemia with emphasis on newer methods of management.
On National Dengue Day (16th May), and on World hypertension Day (17th May, 2023), a public awareness program was organized in Medicine OPD where patients were educated about different aspects of prevention and management of dengue fever nd hypertension respectively.
Also, a CME on Dengue was organized with combined efforts from department of Medicine, Pediatrics & Community Medicine in collaboration with NCVBDC & NDMC. The inaugural talk was on “Overview & Disease Burden of Dengue” by Dr L H Ghotekar (Director Professor & HOD Medicine, LHMC). Dr Ghanshyam Pangtey (Director Professor, department of Medicine) gave talk on management of Dengue in adults. Doctors from other departments also educated the residents about Dengue.
On 29th April, 2023, department of Medicine & department of Pediatrics combinedly organized a CME on “Inborn Errors of Immunity (IEI)”. Dr Ghanshyam Pangtey (Director Professor, department of Medicine) and Dr Sameer Gulati (Professor, department of Medicine) gave talk on – “IUIS classification of IEI” and “IEI in adults respectively”. Esteemed faculty from different medical colleges all over India, enlightened the audience on different aspects on IEI.
On 3rd, 5th & 7th June, medicine department organized health awareness programs on ‘’Heat related Illness” in Medicine OPD and the public actively participated.
On 10th June,2023, a CME on Management of Fatty Liver was organized in department of Medicine. Dr Amit Sharma (Professor, department of Medicine) gave talk on -diagnosis, current management & newer therapies for management of fatty liver.
