During the month of January, Medicine Department conducted a public awareness and educational programme on “Ankylosing Spondylitis” on 9th January 2024. It was graced by the Director LHMC Dr. Subash Giri and Head of Department of Medicine, Dr L.H. Ghotekar with Guest speakers from Department of Rheumatology AIIMS, Orthopaedic surgeon from Swami Dayanand Hospital, Head of PMR Department LHMC and Founder President of CAAS (Campaign against Ankylosing Spondylitis). This enlightened us about recent management, rehabilitation, patient perspective and practical aspects of ankylosing spondylitis.

79th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians of India was held from 23-25th February 2024 in Delhi. Faculty members from Medicine department, LHMC were chairperson in many sessions like Dr. Amit Sharma, Dr. Ghanshyam Pangtey,Dr Sameer Gulati, Dr Anupam Prakash, Dr Moti Lal, Dr Shubha Laxmi Margekar, Dr.Priya Bansal ,Dr Princi Jain, Dr Sheikh Yasir Islam.

Many faculty members from medicine department gave lectures like Dr L.H.Gotekar on reversing insulin resistance,  Dr Anupam Prakash on Biological warfare  ,Dr Shubha Laxmi Margekar on Alcoholic Liver Disease, Dr Ramesh Aggarwal on Sarcopenic Obesity ,Dr Sameer Gulati on approach to Auto-inflammatory syndrome   as well as  conducted workshops on  Intra-articular Injections by Dr.Ghanshyam Pangtey, Dr Sameer Gulati and Dr Princi Jain, Choosing antibiotics in the ICU by Dr Debashish Chaudhary,Dr Shubha Laxmi Margekar and Dr Priya Bansal, Competency based medical education by Dr Niket Verma and Dr Shivraj Meena.

Nine residents from LHMC Medicine department Dr. Sharique Imbesat, Dr. Preeti Kumari, Dr. Aishwarya Varthiya, Dr. Yash Dawale, Dr. Kiran Kanwat, Dr. Usha Srinag, Dr. Dhruv Bansal, Dr. Prabhakar Yadav, and Dr. Vishesh Goel won first prize in poster/paper presentation.

On 16th February, a course on stroke “IMPETUStroke” with monthly classes was started and first class was conducted by the Dr. Alvee Saluja, Head of Department, Neurology, LHMC. It focused on a uniform stroke care pathway in hospitals and educate all the residents about the emergency management and stroke care.

On 25th February 2024, First LHMC MEDICINE ALUMINI CONNECT meet was organized in CSOI Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Delhi which included Felicitation of former faculty members, cultural activity and introduction of all faculty.

On 4th March, A guest lecture was organised on “Career options for Medical professionals” by Professor N.P.Singh which guided residents for their future prospects.

On 8th March, Medicine Department conducted Guest lectures by faculties from AIIMS, New Delhi, on topics “Triage in emergency medicine” and “Oxygen physiology and oxygen therapy in emergency medicine”. It imparted insight amongst residents about how to triage patients and management in the emergency duties.

On 10th March, CME on “Empowering Doctors by Enhancing Clinical Knowledge and Skills” was organised in LHMC in mini auditorium which was graced by faculties from various department with guest speakers from MAMC, AIIMS, VMMC, RML, UCMS and IHBAS. It helped residents to understand essential skills and approach to common clinical scenarios and newer therapies and guidelines.

Post graduate students Dr.Dhruv Bansal and Dr.Aditya S Agarwal participated in Poster presentation in SPEEDCON 2024 on 3rd February 2024, and secured 1st position and 2nd position respectively.
