During the month of October, Swachta Pakhwada was celebrated as a public awareness act by the Department of Medicine. Interactive sessions were held in the medicine outpatient department wherein patients and their attendees were made aware of the benefits of cleanliness, waste disposal and personal hygiene by the doctors. Visual skits and plays were performed to make it more comprehensive. Department of Medicine along with Department of Emergency Medicine and Microbiology also conducted and activity to re invoke the importance of hygiene and waste disposal among the cleaners and MTS workers.
On 12-10-23, Medicine department conducted a public education and awareness programme on “Fever with Rash”. It was aimed to make them aware about the symptoms, difficulty in diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cases with febrile rash.
On occasion of World Diabetes Day, Department of Medicine organised an awareness programme on 14-11-23 in Medicine OPD among the outpatients and attendees. It helped them to know about the symptoms for detection and complications of Diabetes. They were made aware about the prevention and relevance of control of the disease.
The department also conducted a CME on Diabetes on 21-11-23 in Mini Auditorium, 5th floor, Academic block in the presence of Vice Principal, Additional MS and faculties& residents from medicine and various departments. It imparted insight into prevention, early diagnosis, complications, and treatment of Diabetes to all.
On 28-11-23, Department of Medicine along with the ART centre conducted a public awareness activity on “WORLD AIDS DAY”. With the help of plays and brochures the outpatients and their attendees were made aware about the routes of transmission, symptoms, prevention and treatment of disease.
Department of Medicine organised a CME on “LIFESTYLE & NUTRITION FOR PREVENTION OF LIFESTYLE DISEASES” on 30-11-23 in the presence of Director LHMC, Vice Principal, Additional MS and Head of Department. Esteemed guest Dr. ZEESHAN ALI (Nutrition Education Program Specialist at PHYSICIANS COMMITTEE FOR RESPONSIBLE MEDICINE, USA) enlightened all about Plant based Nutrition in prevention of Diabetes and Heart Disease. Dr L. H Ghotekar (HOD Medicine) emphasised on how to achieve optimal health for healthcare professionals.
“Infectious Disease Update” was organized by the department of medicine on 12th December 2023 in Mini Auditorium, 5thfloor , Academic block, L.H.M.C. which was graced by the faculties of all the departments along with Guest speakers from R & R Hospital and MAMC .Post graduate residents attended the Update and got an opportunity to extract key points from interesting topics from the valuable lectures , case discussion and panel discussion.
On 18-12-23, Medicine department organised a public education and awareness programme on “Respiratory Illness”for health care workers. It included symptoms of various respiratory illnesses, their diagnosis, prevention and treatment strategy .Program was concluded by interactive discussion and question answer session.
Post graduate students Dr. Srinivas, Dr. Abhishek and Dr Neeraj Participated in Medicine Quiz in EDPACON 2023 on 17th dec 2023, and LHMC team secured 1st position in Quiz competition.
